The Shoyoen Japanese Gardens are amazing when the weather is good... but what do you do and where do you go if the weather is bad? I don't think I've been more grateful to wave goodbye to summer! This summer just gone was extraordinarily warm, with a few days there reaching 45 degrees Celsius. Thankfully, Just Wed did not have any ceremonies on those scorching hot days. With many weddings being outdoors, weather is the one factor we can't control - but we can plan for it. Back-up locations are a must for every outdoor ceremony because we just don't know what we're dealing with sometimes. Daylight saving is practiced in several states of Australia and the ACT, and while that extra hour of daylight is great for late afternoon weddings, it can sometimes also coincide with late afternoon storms. Being able to go to the back-up venue if you absolutely need to is imperative. Luckily the humidity in the central west NSW is nowhere near what it is over by the coast, and of course, the further north you go the humidity climbs accordingly. Having spent seven years in the Top End of the NT as a remote-based celebrant, I can tell you many stories about the vagaries of heat, humidity, and afternoon rain! Planning is the key to ensuring your special day remains special. We'll talk about back-up venues and ensure that if you're marrying outdoors you have a Plan B tucked away in case it may be needed.
