Choose Random Witnesses First...

Unfortunately, this issue keeps coming up in the Dubbo area so I’ll say it again: your official witnesses need to be identified prior to the wedding taking place.

And while you can choose them at random, this needs to be done before the ceremony starts - not after it’s over.

The authorised celebrant must conduct a valid marriage ceremony and it’s impossible to do that if the official witnesses aren’t known at the start of the ceremony.

There are specific things witnesses need to be paying attention to in the ceremony as it happens - which the celebrant should explain to them before the ceremony starts.
