Why Just Wed?

Not everyone who wants to marry nowadays is looking for long, involved weddings with large wedding parties, readings and rituals, and in the presence of a lot of people. While beautiful, of course, such events are not everyone's cup of tea and they can be quite expensive.

Some people want the convenience of marrying quickly and without fuss, and sometimes without more than a handful of people present. And, of course, without breaking the bank. These types of ceremonies are what you would find in registry office weddings and (to a lesser extent), courthouse weddings, which are marriage services provided through state and territory governments in Australia.

Unfortunately, there is no registry office west of Sydney and since COVID, courthouse weddings have been restrictive and difficult to organise for many people in our local area. When three couples approached me wanting to marry in the Dubbo courthouse and found the process too onerous and restrictive post-COVID, I realised there was a need for this type of service locally which offered convenience and more flexibility to couples. This ultimately gave birth to Just Wed in March 2023.
