The Just Wed Story...

Just Wed was established in 2023 by central west marriage celebrant, author and award-winning journalist Sharon Bonthuys, who was concerned by the less than stellar experiences reported by local residents trying to marry in a Registry Office or Courthouse wedding in Dubbo and surrounds.

As a Registry (of Births, Deaths and Marriages) Office does not exist in Dubbo, people cannot marry in a NSW Government Registry Office ceremony locally. And while the Dubbo Courthouse does conduct weddings, several residents have reported difficulty arranging to do so since COVID-19, and being locked into unrealistic dates and timeframes that don't suit the average person.

This is why and how Just Wed came to be. Residents in Dubbo and surrounding communities can have the same type of quick, simple and no-fuss "Big Smoke" Registry or Courthouse-style wedding or elopement in the presence of a few family members or friends, or a fuss-free legals-only wedding when and where they want, without breaking the bank.

​And unlike dealing with the NSW Government, there are no queues to languish in, no waiting beyond the mandatory notice period (you can marry in as little as a month after your paperwork is lodged with us, unless you need to marry urgently), and no hassles.

​Just Wed can help you if you need to seek permission to marry under the month's notice period, or if you need to connect with a migration agent. We can also order - at additional cost - a registered marriage certificate for you if you're intending to change surnames after marrying, or need this for immigration purposes, or to provide official evidence that you've married.
